What is meant by powder flowability?
This material property describes the ease with which powder particles slide/move over each other.
This is a fundamental parameter that affects various industrial applications in the world of bulk material handling:
- handling
- transport
- dosing
- mixing
- storage
Why powder flowability is it important?
Good powder flowability has a substantial impact in most industries in terms of
- optimizing process efficiency
- ensuring uniform product mixing
- preventing blockages and clogging in storage systems and during material handling (connection channel, ducts, chutes, etc.
- reducing the risk of explosion that occurs when powders are spread in the air (hence the ever-increasing attention to AtEx standards and safety of grounding)
Which Barra Project product can provide the right support to ensure good powder flowability?
AIRFLASH compressed air cannons play a fundamental role in ensuring good flowability of the powders
AIRFLASH generates shock waves, at a maximum pressure of 10 bar, that hit the stored material, eliminating material bridges, deposits and encrustations. Thanks to these air injections, the friction between the stored material and the walls of the storage structure (typically silos and hoppers) and between the individual particles of material is reduced, so that the individual grains slide more easily over each other, obtaining an overall effect of fluidification and homogenization of the stored product, avoiding also the formation of dead zones of material stagnation.
AIRFLASH is characterized by a wide and varied range of cannons with a high degree of customization. This makes AIRFLASH products suitable for application in every industry.
